Detailed description

Moma dels Frares is the culmination of Bodega de los Frailes´ project. In this wine blend the Monastrell, as a reference of a traditional native variety, and the Marselan, as the exponent of an experimental variety. The perfect combination between 55 years old and 5 years old vineyards. Freshness, complexity, elegance, creaminess and depth define the character of Moma dels Frares.

Making

After a manual harvest and an exclusive selection of the more healthy and ripe bunches, stalking and crushing are carried out, barreling is subsequent and finally takes place a long and pacient maceration under a controlled temperature of 19 degrees Celsius. The Marsela was barrelled in 1,000 litres tanks. Husks were worked together with the must in a handcrafted way. The Monastrell was barrelled in a 100 Hl tank. Strict monitoring of the continuous overpumping (type rack and return). After a 20 days long maceration, free-run wine assembling and ageing with lees in fine-grained and medium roasted French oak barrels for 13 months.

Tras vendimia manual y selección exclusiva de racimos más sanos y maduros, se llevo a cabo despalillado y estrujado que tras posterior encubado, controlando la temperatura a 19º para prepararla para una maceración larga y paciente. La Marselan se encubó en depósitos de 1000 litros trabajándose los hollejos junto al mosto de forma absolutamente artesanal. La Monastrell encubada en depósito de 100 Hl trabajándose con continuos remontados tipo delestaje bajo estricto seguimiento. Tras larga maceración de 20 días, ensamblaje de vino flor y maduración con lías en barricas de roble francés de grano fino y medio tostado durante 13 meses, realizándose batoneos bimensuales según cata. Tasting

Visually bright cherry colour, high layer and abundant tear.

In nose highlights blackberries and bluberries cake intense aromas on a mineral and balsamic notes background, nutmeg, pepper.

In mouth balance highlights, ripe fruit sensations, greedy sweet tannins, tobacco and chocolate notes perfectly integrated. Overall elegant. Lasts for long and persistent with a strong acidity.
